About Wilson Mannion, legal recruiters Legal recruitment that does what it says.
Wilson Mannion was set up in 2022 on one idea. Recruiters should be honest, reliable and straight to the point, and they should know the work they recruit for.

In shortWilson Mannion is a specialist legal recruiter set up in 2022 by James Wilson, with Christina, who focuses on UK conveyancing. We work with law firms and lawyers across England and Wales. Our registered office is in Preston, Lancashire.
How did Wilson Mannion start?
James Wilson spent his early career in the military. It gave him discipline, a habit of preparing harder than anyone in the room, and the ability to stay calm when the plan changes. He took all three into legal recruitment.
He moved quickly, becoming the first regional manager appointed at his previous company. Then he left to start Wilson Mannion, because he wanted to recruit the way he thought it should be done.
Since then the specialism has been law, and the deepest track record is conveyancing and property. Firms say James keeps them informed at every step. Candidates say he never pressures them. Both are the point.

A career move can change someone’s life. The right appointment can change a business. Both deserve a recruiter who takes the time to understand what matters.
My route into legal recruitment began after serving in the military, where I developed the discipline, accountability and determination that still shape how I work today. I progressed to become the first regional manager appointed at my previous recruitment company, before setting up Wilson Mannion in 2022.
Across ten years in legal recruitment, I’ve learned that a successful placement starts with asking better questions. Why is someone really considering leaving? What would make them stay somewhere long term? What does a firm need this person to help it achieve?
That’s how I’ve built Wilson Mannion.
Today, I lead the business with a particular focus on conveyancing, property and real estate recruitment across the UK. I work with professionals planning their next step and firms making appointments that will shape their teams, from developing fee earners through to senior leadership.
For candidates, that means looking beyond salary and job titles to understand the work, support, flexibility and progression that would make a move worthwhile. It also means honest feedback, proper interview preparation and the space to make a decision without pressure.
For clients, it means understanding the business behind the vacancy: the workload, team dynamics, expectations and reasons someone would choose to join and stay. Sometimes that involves challenging a brief or having a difficult conversation about what the market can deliver.
I’ve built my business around being someone people can speak to openly and trust to give them a straight answer. I’m prepared to advise against a move or an appointment when I don’t believe it serves the people involved.
The most rewarding part is seeing those relationships continue: someone returning for their next career step, or a client trusting me with another important hire.
That continued trust is what I’ve built Wilson Mannion around, and what I want the business to keep earning.
