Salary: £65,000–£73,000 + bonus
Location: Manchester, hybrid and flexible working

Residential Development Solicitor, NQ–3 PQE, Manchester. £65,000–£73,000 plus bonus, hybrid working, structured development and nationwide developer-side property work.

Build your property career in a firm where the work and the working environment both matter.

An established commercial law firm is looking for a junior solicitor to join its Residential Development team, working on schemes nationwide.

You’ll gain experience across site preparation, new build developments and plot sales, with opportunities to take responsibility and build client relationships. Alongside the work, there’s established flexibility, approachable senior colleagues and recognition that your contribution extends beyond billing.

Why lawyers make this move

High-quality work with realistic working expectations: build experience on residential developments within a firm that values sustainable performance. Chargeable hours expectations recognise that supporting colleagues, developing client relationships and contributing to the team are part of the job. Your contribution is assessed more broadly than fees alone.

The scale of a large firm, with flexibility built in: hybrid and flexible working are established parts of how the firm operates. You can access the resources, specialist expertise and work of a substantial commercial practice while retaining flexibility around your working week.

A specialism with a wider view of property: get involved in preparing developments for sale and supporting transactions as schemes progress. Working with colleagues across related disciplines helps you understand the commercial decisions behind the documents and build expertise beyond individual plot sales.

Responsibility that helps you progress: take ownership of work and build client relationships early in your qualified career, with experienced lawyers available to discuss questions. Mentoring, personal development plans and structured learning help turn that experience into greater confidence and capability.

A respected property practice with approachable people: join a firm with an established reputation in real estate and housing, where collaboration and knowledge sharing are part of the culture. For a junior lawyer, that means learning from people with substantial sector experience and feeling comfortable approaching them for guidance.

What’s in it for you?

  • £65,000–£73,000 salary, depending on experience.
  • Annual bonus scheme.
  • Hybrid and flexible working.
  • 25 days’ annual leave, with the option to buy or sell additional leave.
  • Employer pension contributions.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Enhanced family leave.
  • Life assurance, income protection and wellbeing support.
  • A choice of additional benefits to tailor your package.
  • Structured learning, mentoring and personal development planning.

The role

You’ll handle residential development and plot sales matters, taking on responsibility appropriate to your experience. Your work will include:

  • Helping prepare new build developments for sale, including drafting and reviewing sales packs, transfers and leases.
  • Handling freehold and leasehold matters, including open market and shared ownership schemes.
  • Working with clients and acquisition colleagues to obtain information and address issues affecting future sales.
  • Collaborating with dedicated sales and post-sales colleagues as transactions progress.
  • Building client relationships and contributing to presentations, briefings and wider business development activities.

You’ll probably be a good fit if…

  • You’re a qualified Solicitor at NQ–3 years’ PQE.
  • You have relevant residential property experience from training or qualified practice and want to develop a specialism in residential development.
  • You enjoy understanding the detail of a transaction and its wider commercial context.
  • You communicate clearly, organise your workload well and take a practical approach to progressing matters.
  • You’re keen to take responsibility, ask questions and contribute to the team.

About the team

The team acts for organisational clients on residential schemes nationwide. Lawyers work alongside dedicated sales colleagues and draw on specialist advice across the wider firm, giving you exposure to different stages of a development and the people involved in delivering it.
