Practice area Private client recruitment.
Wilson Mannion recruits private client solicitors and trust administrators for UK law firms, from wills and probate to trust and estate administration, up to partner. Hybrid and remote roles are included.

How do you hire in private client?
Wills, trusts and estates work is about client trust and continuity. A good private client hire joins a team that will hold its clients' confidence for years, and the firm has to be right for them as well as the other way round.
We ask about the work mix: wills and probate, lasting powers of attorney, trusts, inheritance tax planning, Court of Protection. A lawyer who has run trust administration for ten years is not interchangeable with one who drafts wills all day, and we say which is which.
Many private client roles are hybrid or remote. We place on that basis and tell candidates exactly what the pattern is.
What we ask first
- Which mix of wills, probate, trusts, tax planning and Court of Protection work?
- Does the role bring existing clients, or build them?
- How is work shared, and who supervises?
- Is a STEP qualification expected, or paid for?
- What is the working pattern, hybrid or remote?
What should you look for in a private client role?
Private client lawyers stay a long time when the fit is right, so the first move should count. We ask what you want your work to look like in three years and tell you which firms can offer it.
Some roles are partner track and some are not. We ask about the route before you decide, and tell you what we hear.
Hybrid and remote private client roles exist. We show the pattern, the salary and the benefits on every advert.
What we ask first
- What share of the work is trust administration, and what share is drafting?
- Do I inherit a client base, or build one?
- How are targets set, and are they realistic?
- What is the route to partner?
- What does hybrid mean in practice, and on which days?
Questions on private client recruitment.
Straight answers.
What does a private client solicitor do?
A private client solicitor advises individuals and families on wills, probate, lasting powers of attorney, trusts and tax planning, and may administer estates and trusts.
Do you recruit trust administrators?
Yes. We place trust administrators as well as private client solicitors and partners.
Are private client roles remote?
Many are hybrid and some are fully remote. Every advert shows the working pattern.
What salary should a private client solicitor expect?
It varies with experience, location and the firm. The adverts we are running now show the salary on the page, and for any role we give you the band before you apply.
