Practice area Commercial property and real estate recruitment.
Wilson Mannion recruits commercial property and real estate solicitors, associates and partners for UK law firms, from landlord and tenant to development and finance work. Most of the good ones are not looking, so we approach them with a specific role.

How do you hire in commercial property?
Commercial property hires are scarce, and the good ones are rarely looking. They are settled, busy and well regarded where they are. A move has to be worth it, so the conversation starts with the role, not the salary alone.
We approach people who are not on job boards. Before we call, we know what the role involves: landlord and tenant, acquisitions and disposals, development or finance. We also ask whether the work comes with clients or has to build them.
If the role is hard to fill at the money offered, we tell you in the first meeting, and say what we think it takes.
What we ask first
- What is the mix of landlord and tenant, transactional and development work?
- Does the role bring client relationships, or build them?
- Is the partner track real, with a date and a number?
- Who supervises, and what team sits around the role?
- What would make a settled associate move?
What should you look for in a real estate role?
If you are a real estate associate or partner and not looking, that is the normal state. We will not chase you, and we will say so if nothing is worth a conversation.
When there is something, we tell you the firm, the work, the team and the pay before your name goes anywhere. Your current firm hears nothing from us.
The questions to ask are about the clients you would work for, the route to partner and who you would report to.
What we ask first
- Which clients and work would I take on?
- What does the route to partner involve?
- Who would I report to?
- Is the team's workload growing or flat?
- What is the pay band, and how much of it is fixed?
What do our live adverts pay?
One bar per advert, today. Pay moves with experience, location and working pattern.

Questions on commercial property and real estate recruitment.
Straight answers.
What does a commercial property solicitor do?
Commercial property solicitors act on leases and lease renewals, acquisitions and disposals, development and property finance for landlords, tenants, developers and lenders.
How do you find commercial property lawyers who are not looking?
We approach them directly, in confidence, with a specific role. Most good real estate lawyers are not on job boards, so an advert alone does not reach them.
Will my firm find out if I speak to you?
Not from us. Your name and your employer stay with us until you have said yes to a specific role.
Do you recruit real estate partners?
Yes. We place commercial property solicitors, associates and partners. A partner role is always a conversation, not an advert.
