Salary: £55,000–£75,000 depending on experience, plus annual bonus for eligible employees
Location: Solihull — office-based, five days a week, with practical flexibility around personal commitments
Senior Residential Conveyancing Solicitor, Solihull. £55,000–£75,000 plus eligible annual bonus, established instructions and potential progression to department leadership and ownership.
An established caseload, experienced support and the possibility of progressing into department leadership make this a role worth considering if you want your next move to offer more than fee earning alone.
Our client, an established law firm in Solihull, is seeking an experienced residential property lawyer as part of its succession planning. You would have instructions available from an established client base, without needing to bring a following or build your workload from scratch.
For the right person, the longer-term opportunity could include leading the residential property department, contributing to firm management and potentially acquiring shares with dividend income. These opportunities depend on suitability and performance and are not guaranteed.
What’s different about this role
- An existing flow of instructions. Repeat clients and recommendations give you work to take on from the outset, without making a client following a condition of joining.
- A potential route into leadership and ownership. Succession planning creates scope to broaden your contribution beyond your own files, subject to suitability and performance.
- Personal service matters. The firm’s approach centres on client relationships and fees that reflect the work involved, giving you scope to use your judgement across varied transactions.
- Practical help with your caseload. Paralegal assistance and outsourced typing support file preparation and administration, while you retain responsibility for advice and quality.
- Experienced guidance through the transition. The outgoing department head intends to remain involved part-time, including helping with complex matters.
What’s in it for you
- £55,000–£75,000 salary, depending on experience and suitability.
- An annual firm-performance bonus for eligible employees; shareholders are excluded.
- 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, with four days normally reserved for the Christmas closure.
- Up to three additional days’ leave through long service.
- Enhanced maternity
- Practical flexibility around childcare and personal commitments
- Potential progression into department leadership, firm management and share ownership, subject to suitability and performance.
The role is office-based five days a week. An occasional day at home for focused work may be agreed.
The Work
- Manage freehold and leasehold residential sales and purchases, including higher-value properties and second homes.
- Advise on new-build purchases, remortgages, lease extensions, freehold and ground-rent matters, and some shared-ownership transactions.
- Take responsibility for matters from initial quotation through exchange, completion and post-completion.
- Review title and lease documentation, resolve enquiries and give clients clear, practical advice.
- Oversee delegated work, maintain quality and meet agreed billing expectations.
What We’re Looking For
- An experienced residential conveyancing solicitor with broad technical expertise; an exceptional experienced licensed conveyancer will also be considered.
- The ability to manage varied residential property matters independently.
- Strong fee-earning performance and personal accountability for client service and file quality.
- The credibility and interest to lead, develop and support colleagues.
- A desire to build a long-term career and work from the Solihull office.
The Culture
You would join experienced colleagues in a practice that values personal service and ownership of client matters. Regular late-night working is not expected, although occasional flexibility is needed to finish urgent work. Practical accommodation of personal commitments sits alongside clear expectations around billing, responsibility and quality.
