Salary: £40,000–£60,000 + 10–20% bonus
Location: Coventry – Hybrid, 3–4 days on site
Senior Residential Conveyancing Solicitor in Coventry, £40k–£60k plus bonus. Lead and rebuild an established team with genuine Senior Associate and Partner progression.
If you’re already the person colleagues turn to for technical questions, difficult files and support, but someone else still makes all the decisions, this could be the step up you’ve been waiting for.
Our client is an established Coventry law firm looking for an experienced Residential Conveyancing Solicitor or qualified Conveyancer to take a leading role within its property department.
You’ll still handle your own residential caseload, but this isn’t simply another fee-earner position with a more senior title. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the team, influence how the department operates, develop its local relationships and play a direct role in its growth, with a route towards Partnership for a qualified solicitor.
What’s different about this role
- Build the department you’d actually want to lead. Rather than inheriting a rigid structure and being asked to maintain it, you’ll have genuine scope to influence the team, standards, client experience and future direction of the department.
- There are strong foundations to build from. You’ll be joining an established local practice with an existing conveyancing loyal client base and longstanding relationships. The opportunity is to strengthen those foundations and grow from them, rather than start from scratch.
- Keep conveyancing personal. This is relationship-led residential property work with direct client contact and a varied caseload, rather than simply processing transactions at volume. You’ll also have the freedom to develop your own relationships with agents and professional contacts.
- There’s somewhere for the role to go. For a qualified solicitor looking beyond their next job title, there is a route towards Partner as you develop the department, alongside a salary of up to £60,000 plus a 10–20% bonus.
What’s in it for you
- £40,000–£60,000 basic salary
- 10–20% bonus
- Hybrid working up to 2 days
- Clear progression towards Partner
- 23 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
- Holiday entitlement increasing with length of service
- Additional time off over Christmas
- Enhanced sick pay
- Regular in-house training
- Support with professional memberships and qualifications
- Networking opportunities
- Long-service awards
- Free parking
The Work
You’ll combine your own residential property work with responsibility for developing the wider department.
That will include:
- Running a mixed residential conveyancing caseload from instruction through to completion, including more complex and higher-value matters.
- Leading and supporting fee earners and assistants, allocating work, coaching colleagues and helping develop a stable permanent team.
- Overseeing file reviews and maintaining strong CQS, AML, lender-panel and wider compliance standards.
- Working with senior management on billing, WIP, profitability and departmental performance.
- Developing relationships with estate agents, introducers and professional contacts to generate new instructions and strengthen the department’s pipeline.
The immediate priority is keeping transactions moving and delivering a strong client experience. From there, you’ll have the opportunity to make wider improvements and help shape how the department develops.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll need to be an experienced Residential Conveyancing Solicitor or qualified Conveyancer who is comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting for instructions.
Ideally, you will:
- Independently manage a mixed residential property caseload from instruction to completion.
- Be comfortable dealing with complex or higher-value residential transactions.
- Have experience supervising, mentoring or managing other conveyancers and support staff.
- Understand file reviews, CQS, AML and lender-panel requirements beyond simply managing your own compliance.
- Have the confidence to build relationships with local agents, introducers and professional contacts.
- Understand the commercial side of running a department, including billing, WIP and cashflow.
- Be comfortable working predominantly from the Coventry office, with hybrid working available.
The Culture
This should suit someone who enjoys the client-facing, relationship-driven side of conveyancing but now wants greater influence over the bigger picture.
You’ll work closely with senior decision-makers and have the autonomy to improve the department rather than simply follow an established playbook. There’s also an emphasis on developing and retaining a permanent team, giving you the opportunity to build something sustainable around you as the department grows.
